Ħamrun Ħanin Launches T-Shirt Campaign to Fund Guide Dog for Visually Impaired Individual
For many of the estimated 338 million people worldwide living with vision impairment, guide dogs play a vital role – empowering their human partners to navigate everyday life with greater confidence, independence and freedom.
These remarkable dogs are crucial for many individuals with significant vision loss, providing them with:
• Safe navigation: Guiding them around obstacles, steps and hazards.
• Increased independence: Allowing them to travel more confidently and autonomously.
• Enhanced freedom: Enabling them to participate more fully in daily life activities.
• Greater confidence: Providing a sense of security and reducing anxiety related to mobility
Wednesday 30 April 2025, we celebrate International Guide Dogs’ Day – a time to honour the extraordinary impact guide dogs have on the lives of people with vision loss.
This day serves as both a celebration of the life-changing support guide dogs provide and a reminder of the importance of these services for people who are blind or visually impaired, helping them live with greater freedom and without limitations.
We also take this opportunity to recognise the dedication of the trainers, handlers and everyone involved in making this service possible – and the sponsors who enable visually impaired people to receive a guide dog.
The Ministry of Health and Active Ageing’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee has presented funds raised during 2024 to the Malta Guide Dogs Foundation, one of three charities to benefit from these initiatives last year.
Among the events organised were two charity book fairs and a Gatsby Night.
The MGDF takes this opportunity to thank the MHA CSR Committee for this initiative and all those who lended their time and donated funds to ensure the initiative was such a success.

MGDF chairman Joseph Stafrace with his guide dog Toby and board member Malcolm Naudi are also seen. The money was raised from among the 65 members of staff of GCS Accounting Malta in lieu of buying a present on Mr Gravina’s 35th birthday. GCS Accounting Malta, set up in 2017, offers accounting, audit and recruitment services.
